To make a bathroom handicapped accessible the school merely took the door off the stall. LISBON 1. All the students attend school in one building that was built in 1993. The new building replaced the school house that was built in 1898. After the state Fire Marshall condemned the 1898 building, it took five votes before the construction bond for the new school was passed by the town's voters. 2. The property tax rate in Lisbon is 30% higher than the state average. From 1990 to 1993 the median value of a house in Lisbon dropped from $70,000 to $51,000. The median income in Lisbon dropped from $32,000 in 1990 to $27,000 in 1993. 3. 5% of the school district's budget is comprised of discretionary spending, which includes kindergarten. 4. There are no advanced placement courses offered. 5. The school has 20 computers in a lab, two are in a study hall, one is located in the library. There is only one printer and one computer with Internet access. 6. The new building was wired to network the computers, but there is no money for a server. 7. There is no alternative program for "at-risk" students. 8. The industrial art equipment is old and there is a shortage of materials.
